Abu Dhabi International School (AIS) is a private, coeducational K-12 day school licensed by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Education. The school has an international body of students and staff from over 70 nationalities. The enrollment at AIS, as of August 2011, is approximately 3500 students, and the school reserves 5% of its student body to special needs students with learning difficulties. Over the years, we have gained a reputation for successfully dealing with a variety of learning difficulties and disabilities through a well-structured Special Education department.

Abu Dhabi International School is a truly international school that educates students from over 70 nationalities in a familial, friendly, fun yet disciplined environment. The international flavor our school provides is also reflected in the diversity of its academic programs. AIS provides the opportunity for its students to graduate with an American program, the British (IGCSE and A-Levels) program or the International Baccalaureate Programme and join top tier institutions worldwide, such as Harvard, Stanford, Cambridge and the Sorbonne of France as well as regional universities in Lebanon, Egypt and the UAE. The school also successfully prepares high school students to pass external examinations and assessments which include ACT, AP, A-levels, IGCSE, TOEFL, and SAT & SAT Subjects Tests, IB Diploma Programme, and other achievement tests.

At AIS, we believe in supporting each and every child in an effort to maximize their opportunity for success and higher academic achievement. The AIS educational program includes an academic program and a Cocurricular program designed to promote academic excellence and physical well-being, and through which students discover their interests and talents and develop them to their full potential. The school also maintains a culture that promotes good habits of character, and emphasizes active citizenship through community service and global awareness.

Through varsity team sports, theatrical productions, cultural events, fundraising events, community service, field trips and travel and a variety of extra-curricular activities, our educational program encourages our students to discover the world around them as well as their own interests and talents.

Every year, the school’s varsity teams partake in national sport competitions and have contributed to the school with a long history of triumphs in the various sports. The school also has its annual theatrical productions that is performed by students and played for the public. The school also carries out its own cultural and fundraising events, such as the International Day, the National Day, the Spring Carnival, Breast Cancer Awareness Day, Terry Fox Day, and the No Smoking campaign.

Abu Dhabi International School maintains a progressive culture of continuous quality improvement; it continuously engages in an institution-wide evaluation and has established affiliations with international educational organizations and institutions to ensure its deliverance of quality education and services. Our quality of educational services have been regularly reviewed and accredited by internationally recognized institutions; previously by the Commissions on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA), and currently by the American International Accreditation Association (AIAA).

Abu Dhabi International School is also an authorized testing center for:

  1. University of Cambridge, Local Examinations Syndicate since 1996: AIS became a Cambridge International Centre for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).
  2. Edexcel (London Examinations) since 1997: AIS became a testing center for the Advanced Supplementary (AS) and Advanced Level (A-Level) Examinations.
  3. The College Board since 1998: AIS became an approved testing center for the SAT, SAT Subject Tests (formally SATII), PSAT, and Advanced Placement (AP) examinations.
  4. ACT, Inc. since 1997: AIS became an approved testing center for the ACT Assessment Test.
  5. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme since 2005: AIS is an authorized testing center for the IB Diploma Programme.
